About the Artists:

Biography:

Born on 1992 in Havana Cuba, Pablo’s work focuses on photography, painting and new media. His work explores the ever escaping concept of “intimacy” through the reconceptualizing of photographs through paint or new media.

Statement:

My work is the result of the exploration of various techniques, using oil paints in the recreation of paradigmatic images of famous photographs throughout history. I pay particular attention to suggestive details within the composition of the photograph conceived by the original artist. My technique is entirely pictorial, where the process is as much a part of the content. Layers of paint are applied to the surface, the illustration is “masked,” additional paint is added on top and then washed to expose the underlaying colors.

To me, the surface, the color, the texture, the representation of an object are means of expression that lead to the same idea: Intimacy.
