Biography:

Born January 26, 1971

Born in Perico, Matanzas, Cuba, sculptor and printmaker Vladimir Rodríguez Sánchez’s imagery expresses the illusory—from philosophical and metaphysical concepts to notions of the essence of Cuba.  Symbols of national history and references to exodus and family are realized through techniques of etching and drawing.

Between 1989 and 2011, Vladimir has participated in more than thirty solo exhibitions, and more than sixty collective exhibitions in Cuba and abroad. He has received numerous awards in provincial and national exhibitions, and has been awarded grants for his artistic creations for the Asociación Hermanos Saiz (AHS, Association of the Saiz Brothers) in 2000 and 2005, and a Mateo Torriente de La UNEAC grant in 2010.  During 2001 and 2003, he held a position as the president of the Asociación Hermanos Saiz (AHS, Association of the Saiz Brothers), in the province of Cienfuegos. He is a member of the Uníon de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC, Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba).
