Galeria Cubana is pleased to present the online exhibition featuring 11 new paintings by Aneet R. Fontes. This year, Fontes offers us paintings in varying formats of 3 different locales, including the playful streets of Provincetown, Boston and her home city of Havana. This is Fontes' second year using the palette knife in her work, adding texture and depth to each painting done in her signature reflective style.
In her own words:
My work has always been documentary in nature. "Under the same sky" is a series of paintings in which I try to capture not only the visual impression of light and color, but other sensory aspects of the scene, such as warmth or cold, sound and the overall atmosphere that surrounds us. In this series, I focus on places that have provided me with an endless source of inspiration—Havana, Boston, and Provincetown. These are places in which a sunset can transcend, connecting us to ourselves intimately regardless of geographical or cultural differences. The beauty of light at the beginning and end of the day remains a universal discourse that defines us and also unites us.
