Orígenes + Identidades (Origins + Identities)
MARCOS ARIAS, EDEL BORDON, FERMIN CASTRO + AISSA SANTISO
July 3 - 14, 2025
Galería Cubana is excited to present Orígenes + Identidades (Origins + Identities), a group exhibition of works exploring ancestry, identity, transformation and interconnectedness.
An array of faces and figures are featured throughout this exhibition. Not to be missed are newcomers Fermin Castro and Marcos Arias who will exhibit for the first time at the gallery.
Arias explores states of mind— pain, passion and encounters between reality and the ideals of each human being. Always using a gold leaf background, the artist conveys the nuance of character and identity through his meticulous treatment of faces, forms, hairstyles and clothing.
Castro has forged his own signature version of the “ancestral”—his sculptures feature protuberant spines, precarious eyes, elongated bones and limbs, allowing the viewer to perceive harmony between the forms and their significance.
A native Cuban now living in Boston, Castro will be in attendance at the Opening Reception.
OPENING RECEPTION:
July 4, 6-9pm
