Galería Cubana is pleased to present the exhibition El despertamiento (The awakening). The exhibition explores pivotal moments of change in both artist’s lives. Luis Rodríguez NOA’s paintings, bursting with vibrant colors and intricate details, capture the essence of the awakening of consciousness. The use of symbolic imagery, handwritten text, and spontaneous scribbles creates a layered narrative that invites viewers to explore beyond the surface.
Dairan Fernandez de la Fuente has long been inspired by the 1930s, a transformational time when his family immigrated to Cuba. Art Deco motifs and themes abound in his richly colored paintings, reduction woodcut prints, and drawings. His works are nostalgic reflections of the life shared by his parents and extended family. Planes, trains and automobiles are symbolic themes of movement and change in his vibrant work. The artists revisits these themes as many Cubans continue to emigrate each year.
