Ronaldo Encarnación is a Cuban artist born and raised amongst the beautiful landscapes of Pinar del Rio. His art practice is focused primarily in abstract mixed media, yet expands to sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. He was educated at the Vocational Art School in Pinar del Rio, and the National Fine Arts School in Havana. His work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions across the island and abroad, and has been acquired into private collections in 27 countries.
Encarnación moved to the United States with his family in July 2013, and his work has continued to evolve since. He has been inspired by the new scenery, embracing the new landscape. In the words of the Cuban poet and journalist Alex Fleites, “Encarnación has his own liturgy. Fortunately, it materializes in an act that provides beauty to the world. He paints with a monastic vocation, impervious to the disappointments of the moment.”
